De Milo Films
Experience, creativity, revelation

About Us

Bristol-based De Milo Films was established by documentary-maker, Joanna Burge, following a career at the BBC and a decade as a freelancer, in order to her pursue her passion for telling untold stories and shining a light in unseen places.

Award-winning documentary-making

De Milo Films has given Joanna the opportunity to pursue and document compelling stories such as 'Can Criminals Say Sorry?' and 'Prostitution – What’s the Harm?' for BBC3.  She has also made high-profile undercover films like RTS-nominated 'Politicians For Hire' and the award-winning 'Starbucks and Nespresso – The Truth About Your Coffee' about child labour in the coffee fields of Guatemala for Channel 4.

Films with people at their heart

However challenging the stories and issues featured in Joanna’s films for De Milo Films are, her documentaries are about people - and they give those people a voice.   Her films champion a cause and she makes them with determination, care and creativity.
